Letters from Past Presidents
Dear Alumni, sisters and friends of Alpha Omega Epsilon,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Alpha Omega Epsilon Beta Psi Chapter Website. My name is Rebecca Naglieri and I am honored to be serving as the President of the Beta Psi chapter for the 2023-2024 school year. I am a current Senior Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. I joined Alpha Omega Epsilon my freshman year in the spring of 2021, and it has been one of the best decisions of my college career.
The Beta Psi chapter is a relatively young chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon, having only been installed in 2019. In the short time since then, we have grown our chapter size, number of events held and community impact. This past year, our chapter initiated 14 new members, held over 50 events, and completed more than 740 hours of community service. Our chapter is made up of a diverse group of majors, including engineering, biology, public health, nursing, marine science, and more. We welcome all majors who are supportive of women in STEM. Each of our philanthropy, professional development, and social committees hold about two events a month, in addition to recruitment, sisterhood, and special events throughout the semester. Each of our members is required to complete a minimum of ten hours of community service each semester, with at least two of those hours coming from sorority events. In the Fall our main philanthropy event raises money for period products for a local women’s shelter, and in the Spring our main philanthropy is Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research.
While all of these events and statistics are very impressive, and trust me-I do brag about them any chance I get, I am most proud of the culture that we have created. The Beta Psi chapter is a true and supportive sisterhood. Many of our sisters live together and spend copious amounts of time together outside of chapter events. It always warms my heart to see sisters that either get to chapter early or stay late in order to catch up with other sisters. We have also instituted programs like a sister support system, started holding mental health focused events, and encouraged sister hangouts. I have had the privilege of watching this culture of the Beta Psi chapter grow over the past few years into an organization that I am truly proud to be a part of.
I invite you to browse our website and see what our amazing sisters have been up to recently. We are so happy to share everything that makes our chapter so special. You can also keep up with us by following our Instagram @aoe.uofsc. Please reach out with any questions or comments that you may have.
To our Alumni, we are so proud of you and thankful for everything that you have contributed to our chapter. Please look out for emails from us with updates and events open to Alumni. If you are ever in Columbia please reach out, we would love to see you.
To any possible new members, we would love to see you at any of our recruitment events. Please look for us on garnet gate, check out the recruitment tab on this website and follow our Instagram to get updates about our recruitment season.
With Love,
Rebecca Naglieri
